You wake alone below the surface with nothing but a guttering lantern and fraying resolve. The dungeon knows you are here.
The Quiet Below is a turn-based psychological dungeon RPG about descending into a living darkness that watches, waits, and reacts to what you do. There are no experience levels or class points — your power comes only from what you carry, how you use it, and how long your resolve holds.
Turn-based grid combat on procedural floors with four distinct combat channels: melee, ranged, magic, and summoning. No build can master them all.
Light and darkness management: Your lantern burns oil every turn it stays lit. In the dark, your Resolve erodes — and when Resolve bottoms out, you do not want to be there anymore (irl probably as well).
Attention economy: Every fight, every loud step, every bright flame raises the dungeon's awareness. The higher your Attention, the more aggressively the Director hunts you.
Tribute or defiance: Every floor holds one shrine demanding payment. Pay and earn the dungeon's tolerance. Walk away, and its patience wears thin.
Melee: Flank, backstab, cleave, and guard-break with swords, axes, spears, and heavy blades. Facing matters.
Ranged: Bows and crossbows fight at distance with sweet spots and pierce mechanics.
Magic: Scrolls teach spells; wands, books, and staffs only bias the elements. Mana is precious.
Soul binding: Defeat enemies and attempt to bind their souls into summonable echoes for future fights. (still in development)
Equipment-driven power: Weapons, armor, accessories, and charms with rarity tiers, forge upgrades, elemental imprints, and armor set bonuses.
Player callings: Choose a thematic path at run start — from the cushioned Classless Wanderer to the masochistic Exile.
Blessing unlocks: Run-changing passives that rewrite the rules of light, rest, and traversal.
Procedural floors span five biomes from the Ruined Halls to the ("Coming soon"). Every 5th depth is a Trial Gate warden boss that seals the stairs until defeated.
Runs are long. Save from the pause menu and continue later. The demo is capped at the first five floors; descending deeper unlocks the full depth bands and gate bosses.
Steam lists The Quiet Below as coming soon without a confirmed date yet.
