Audictrl sits in the tray and plays, pauses or switches your background audio based on the app you're using, the time of day, and the weather where you live. Focus playlist when you open your editor, paused when you leave, resumed where it stopped. Sleep audio at night. Bring your own files.

Official stores with direct support.
A background utility that plays, pauses and switches your own audio automatically, based on the app you are using, the time of day, and the weather in your city.
One rule = a trigger + an action
Triggers
- App: three modes — in the foreground, simply running (minimised counts), or its window maximised
- Time: a range or a specific moment
- Weather: clear / clouds / rain / snow / thunderstorm / fog
- Triggers declared by a plugin
Conditions can be combined; all of them must hold.
Actions
- Play a track
- Play a playlist (in order or shuffled)
- Set volume: Audictrl itself, Windows, or one specific program
- Stop playback
- Call a plugin action
When the trigger stops: stop, pause (resumes where it left off next time), or let it finish.
Examples
- VS Code comes to the foreground -> focus playlist; pauses when you leave, resumes when you return
- A game is running, even minimised -> browser volume down to 20%
- 23:00-07:00 -> switch to sleep audio
- It's raining in your city -> play rain
Plugins
A NetEase Cloud Music plugin is available, so its catalogue can be used as an audio source. A plugin can add its own triggers, actions and its own window.
Workshop support arrives on July 13.
Nine languages, and you can rewrite any of them
The interface ships in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish.
Translations are not baked into the binary: each language is one plain text file in the lang folder of the install directory. If a machine-translated line reads badly, open it, fix it, restart — no need to wait for an update. To add a language, copy template.po, fill it in, and it shows up in Settings after a restart; anything left untranslated falls back to English rather than going blank.
Also
- Three-band equaliser
- Global hotkeys: play/pause, next/previous, stop, volume up/down, mute
- Audio library: import files or folders, search, sort, add to playlists in bulk
- Fill in a process name by scanning installed programs, Steam library included
- Optional pop-up when a rule fires
- Dark/light theme, seven accent colours
- The resident background process uses about 2.8 MB of RAM
Bring your own audio
Audictrl ships no audio content. You supply the files (MP3 / WAV / FLAC / OGG); it decides when to play what.
