Cold Transit is a peer-to-peer (P2P) multiplayer / singleplayer game of tag. Catch your friends in the public transport network, or try to escape in the maze of streets and connecting lines.
New York, Tokyo, Paris, and more. World-known cities with world-known transit networks. Explore them all, traversing the system using train, tram, bus, subway, bike, etc. in maps inspired by their real-world counterpart, including famous landmarks and locations.
As a Catcher, you must find the running player(s) by tracking them, as information about their movements are revealed to you. Every now and then, the Runners' current positions are revealed.
As a Runner, you must try to evade your captors by using every card at your disposal, and your wit. Use your stealthy options to sneak through the Catchers' grasp.
Each map includes several different map layers and filters that can be toggled to customize your experience. Additionally, the game features a fully functional map editor, allowing players to create their own modded maps and share them.
The game is playable both with friends over peer-to-peer (P2P) connections, or singleplayer against AI opponents (the P2P mode requires an online internet connection).
NOTE! Players playing the demo version can play with players playing the full version, but will be limited to only the maps available in the demo, and a limited set of player avatars.
Set your agent (player) name, and select your game mode:
Play Solo: singleplayer mode, play against the AI
Host Game: Create your own multiplayer game lobby, and share the access code with them
Join Game: Input the shared multiplayer access code to join another player's game lobby
In the lobby, set your appearance, and choose your role (Runner / Catcher). The host also adjusts the difficulty options for the session, before starting the game. Make sure to read the mission details to understand the game rules.
After starting the game, each player takes their turn one at a time. To plan their moves, they have complete overview over the game board, and the tickets they currently possess to move around. To move between stations, players must choose to use an appropriate transport mode ticket, thus consuming it. The most recent player moves are displayed in the action log, allowing for the Catchers to determine the movements of the Runners. If a player runs out of tickets to move, they may use their turn to get a new set of tickets. The game ends once all Runners are caught (Catchers win), or the turn limit is reached (Runners win).
