Other programming games drop you in a sandbox and wish you luck. Droning On takes its time. It teaches you one thing at a time, lets you use it, teaches you the next, and keeps going from there.
You write code that looks and feels just like Python to steer Gizmo through grid-based mazes. What you learn here is what you'd write anywhere else, just pointed at your happy little robotic friend.

Bootcamp, Levels 1–10 — A guided ramp from your first move() to conditionals, loops, energy management, and sensing the maze around you. Each level introduces a new concept and gives you room to practice it. Every level has three hints if you get stuck: shape, structure, and solution. Use one, use all three, or pretend they don't exist. By the end, you've gone from a blank file to scripts that actually solve things.

Scripts live as plain .py files in your save folder. Edit them in-game, or flip on external editor support and open them in whatever editor you prefer — Droning On watches the files and reloads them the moment they change.
The code you write here uses the same structure and nomenclature as the Python you'd write anywhere else, running on an interpreter we built from scratch and modeled on Python's behavior, so what you learn transfers cleanly. The language unlocks concept by concept as you play. The demo covers the foundation — variables, conditionals, loops, and sensing the maze — while functions, collections, classes, and more open up in the full game. It's a focused slice of Python, not the whole standard library, with no custom syntax to relearn and no surprises when you take what you've learned somewhere else.

The full game picks up right where the demo leaves off and goes a lot further:
Remaining Bootcamp Mode Levels — 10 more levels covering scanning, collections, functions, interactables, hazards, and classes.
Puzzle Mode — 13 unique challenges that don't play by maze rules. Sliding tiles, memory-match cards, oil slicks, hidden traps, and more. Each one wants a different kind of script.
Endurance Mode — procedurally generated mazes that scale in difficulty until your code or energy can't keep up. Collect Trinkets that change how Gizmo behaves, push for the global leaderboards, or challenge your friends to beat your place.
Cosmetic customization — earn $crap and unlock a growing wardrobe of skins, hats, ears, neckwear, and tails for Gizmo.
Steam achievements and leaderboards.
Your scripts, unlocks, level completion, and stats all carry over to the full game when you decide to buy.
