Hear the Void is an online multiplayer horror‑arena game for 1‑8 players, blending the eerie liminality of the Backrooms with the watery dread of poolcore aesthetics. There are no monsters chasing you – you are the monster that other players fear.
In this labyrinth of endless hallways and boundless swimming pools, every player is invisible. You can’t see your enemies, and they can’t see you. The one thing that can betray you is sound.
Still = Safe – Stand completely still, and you blend into the environment – transparent, silent, invisible.
Move = Expose – Walking slowly creates ripples in shallow water or brief footprints on dry ground. Sprinting produces loud footsteps, briefly flashes your silhouette (0.5 sec), and leaves a trailing wake of splashes or dust.
Heartbeat Lock – When you get within 5 meters of a hidden enemy, a blue pulse glow appears at the edge of your screen. Hold the attack button for 1.5 seconds to charge up and release a cone‑shaped sonic wave – only if it hits the other player’s body will they be “erased” from reality.
Hold Breath Counter – If the targeted player hears the attacker’s charging breath, they can press Hold Breath (Q) to become perfectly still – the lock breaks instantly, and the attacker’s follow‑through briefly reveals their own position.
Shallow vs. Deep Water – Sprinting in shallow water creates a loud splash; swimming in deep water is even noisier and prevents attacking, but deep zones hide shortcuts and rare fragments.
Intermittent Drain Alerts – Every 2 minutes, a drain alarm sounds and water levels drop abruptly, exposing dry platforms – but any player caught on dry land will cough involuntarily, revealing their location.
Flickering Lights – Random areas go dark for 3 seconds. In the dark, running is silent (absorbed), but your eyes glow a vivid red – hear in the light, see in the dark.
Three “Reality Fragments” spawn randomly across the map. You can win by:
Collecting all 3 fragments and reaching a randomly appearing “Exit” door, or
Eliminating every other player and being the last one standing.
⚠️ Carrying a fragment makes your footsteps echo with a low “bell toll” (20% louder range) and slows your movement by 10% – will you sneak quietly, or drop the fragment and become the hunter?
Eliminated players become Wanderers – invisible ghosts. They can’t kill, but they can tap on walls or create fake ripples in water to mislead survivors. If their interference causes a survivor to be wrongly eliminated, the Wanderer can possess the killer’s body and return to the game (once per match).
In this world, even the dead can’t be trusted.
4‑8 player online matches – private lobbies and matchmaking supported
Pure audio‑based gameplay – no health bars, no minimap – just sound and instinct
Non‑Euclidean maps – every round’s layout changes dynamically, never the same twice
Liminal space aesthetics – wet tiles, moldy yellow walls, infinite pools and corridors – a love letter to Backrooms and poolcore culture
Fast rounds (10‑20 minutes) – high tension, quick to replay
Step into Hear the Void. Hold your breath. Watch the ripples. In the absolute silence, listen for the one sound that seals your fate.
Silence is the only law. And sound? Sound is your death warrant.
