About Orbital Drift

Orbital Drift is a science-fiction adventure game set in low orbit around a world that has been extinct for centuries. Drift around the planet. Explore, gather resources, and solve mysterious puzzles.

It is the mid-23rd century. Humanity encounters the first undeniable trace of an alien civilization.
Within the Aldebaran system (Taurus constellation), the exoplanet Tauris b has been identified, on whose surface there are objects of clearly artificial origin.
Research shows that the discovered structures are the remains of a culture that died out centuries ago, turning the planet into an interstellar mausoleum.
After a journey lasting many years, the first settlers establish a base on Tauris b.

You take on the role of a member of another scientific expedition sent to Tauris b to investigate the remains of an alien civilization.
Upon landing, you are attacked by the base crew. As the sole survivor, you take control of a damaged ship, escaping into orbit on remaining fuel.
Your only goal is to survive, but as you drift in the cosmic void, the same haunting question returns:
What was discovered on the planet that made human life lose its value?

Orbital physics does not forgive mistakes.
Maneuvers cost fuel, and oxygen is depleted with every breath.
A wrong decision means serious consequences.
Plan trajectories, manage resources, and learn to control drift in order to reach subsequent objects.

Break into the systems of abandoned installations.
Read onboard logs, analyze recordings, and reconstruct events from years ago.
Connect fragments of a story that someone tried to erase.

Oxygen is running out. Resources are extremely limited, and the silence and surrounding emptiness ominously affect the senses.
Explore abandoned stations, wrecks, asteroids, and mining infrastructure.

Search for air, fuel, and food.
Every maneuver is a risk, but also a chance to uncover the truth.

Your ship is your only ally. Improve its systems by creating new modules: increase range, improve fuel efficiency, and prepare for exploration of increasingly distant and dangerous objects.

● Why did the Taurian civilization die out?

● Why do some want the truth never to be revealed?

● Could this affect the fate of all humanity?

Orbital Drift is being developed in Poland by a small team of several people. The project was born from a passion for observing the sky, physics, and science. Our goal is not only to tell an engaging story, but also to smuggle science into a form that engages players and stays with them long after they turn the game off. The project is a finalist in the Digital Dragons – Go Global 3 competition.
