Pagan Age

Earth has not always been dominated by humans. In the past, the lands were shrouded in darkness, and among forests, mists and swamps, monsters lied their lair, about which people scared their children in bedtime stories, warning them to not move away from the hearth. In the end, however, the curiosity to discover new lands had to win and the pagan peoples set out to conquer lands inhabited only by monsters.



These tribes had to find themselves in a harsh, hostile environment. They were to be helped by diligence, creativity and vigilance. People rolled up their sleeves to work, obtaining another building material and laying the foundations for a new settlement. They erected palisades of sharp wooden logs, which effectively scared away most of the beasts.



They domesticated wild animals and learned to cultivate a land rich in edible vegetables and grains. In this way, they could survive and face most threats. They learned to worship the gods who gave them their harvest, and to avoid gods who would bring them hunger, disease and death in the beast's mouths.



Some monsters, however, were too powerful to pay attention to humans. They could protect the village by scaring away other fearsome creatures, or turn to dust a small army of trained hunters, depending on what stood in the way of their hunger.
Therefore, the pagans chose to use it to their advantage...
