Thveit is a storybook Norse-inspired city builder where mythology lives beside your people. Begin with a handful of settlers and a single forest clearing, then build a home that will flourish. As your settlement grows, the old ways endure - gods, spirits, and creatures of Norse folklore may reward devotion, test your resolve, or quietly become part of the stories your people tell. Prepare for the weight of winter, expand your hold on the land, and transform a humble camp into a thriving settlement shaped by the lives, traditions, and legends of its people.
Raise homes, cultivate fields, fish, tend livestock, build workshops, and develop a thriving economy through layered production chains. As your settlement grows, it finds its place among neighboring realms while the changing seasons shape the rhythm of everyday life. Settlers work, rest, celebrate, and gather together, creating a living world filled with quiet moments, memorable festivals, and stories passed down through generations.

Establish your foothold and nurture it into a living settlement. From the first tree felled to the rising smokes of the homesteads, shape the land and turn a wild clearing into a place of warmth and comfort for your settlers.

Your settlers need shelter, food, warmth, comfort, clothing, jobs, storage, and safe places to live. Build homesteads, farms, fishing spots, gathering buildings, industry buildings, faith structures, docks, and storage so the village can stand on its own. Seasons change what matters. Spring supports growth. Summer favors building and voyages. Autumn is for storing food, clothes, fuel, and offerings. Winter tests every system you built.

The island is not empty. Large footprints appear near forests. Cats gather before nightfall. Rivers glow with strange lights. Deer gather near sacred trees. Graves grow restless. Ravens watch from above. Build Study Posts and use the Book of Creatures to record what your settlers discover. Learn each being’s habitat, likes, dislikes, offerings, current effects, and next hints before you decide how to welcome, appease, or respect it.

Folklore beings are not just visitors. They need places to belong. Build troll dens near forests and mountains. Create cat beds, bowls, and sanctuaries. Raise dragons from rare eggs in stone enclosures. Respect river spirits with offerings, music, and clean water shrines. Honor the dead with cemeteries and ancestor shrines. Worship gods through shrines, rituals, favor, and divine domains.

Every supernatural being has a warning, a need, a benefit, and a consequence. Trolls need meals, space, quiet, and a proper den. In return, they can help with wood, stone, heavy labor, Ancient Stone, and outer village safety. Cats need food, warmth, beds, and safe homes. In return, they improve comfort, warn of spirits, support Freya favor, and reduce supernatural fear. Dragons need meat, stone structures, warmth, space, and bonding. In return, they bring prestige, heat, protection, trade reputation, and mythic progress. Spirits need offerings, rituals, and respect for the places they belong to. In return, they can improve fishing, farming, comfort, water, and rare magical resources.

Winter is the great test of every settlement. As snow blankets the land and the nights grow long, even the strongest villages can falter. Keep your people fed, warm, and safe while facing the hardships of the wild. Yet survival is not achieved through stockpiles alone. The creatures, spirits, and ancient powers that share your world may become valuable allies, offering protection, guidance, and unexpected aid when the coldest days arrive.

Build your connection to the outside world through trade and voyages. Traders can bring settlers, rare goods, folklore knowledge, cats, runestones, relics, and rumors. Voyages can lead to mythic discoveries such as dragon eggs, rare resources, old songs, and knowledge that pushes your village beyond ordinary survival.

As your settlement prospers, it begins to stand for something. Fine clothes may become your craft, or casks of mead your trade - each choice leaves its mark. Beyond your borders, other realms take notice. Trade flows across waters, ties are forged, and reputations grow with every exchange. Over time, certain goods come to define you, carrying greater value abroad. What you produce, and how you trade it, shapes the name your settlement earns among others.
