You are Penrose, a holy servant sent into the thrums to listen to and record the music there. Well, the years of missionary work are wearing thin and you've just landed on yet another backwater thrum, a place where everything's goofy. It's time to listen to everything here and get out.
In What's Heaven For, you explore a huge world filled to the brim with sights and sounds. Walk around, find something interesting, and listen to the song that it plays! Listening to music increases your attunement to the thrum, which in turn lets you access the most rarefied of songs—including, at attunement's highest peaks, the four Final Songs.
In order to get there, you'll need to jump from plane to plane and open the doors in your path by listening to the right songs to unlock keys. The Crime Key, unlocked by finding two victims of murder, their assassin, and the assassin's contractor, is the endpoint of just one of the many storylines you can uncover throughout the game.
When it comes to the music you'll be hearing, it's guaranteed not to disappoint. There's the soft and the loud, the happy and the sad, and at the extremes, both harsh noise and drone ambient. Each of the four contributing artists have their own unique style you'll grow to love during your time with What's Heaven For?
