Meccha Chameleon Cleared as Malware Came Through Workshop Mod
The developers of Meccha Chameleon say the game itself was not the source of the malware. The issue was traced to a mod shared through the Steam Workshop, and the fallout also reached the official Discord.

The developers of Meccha Chameleon have confirmed that the game client is safe, following player reports of malware infections. The source was a single mod uploaded to the Steam Workshop, not the base version of the game.
That distinction matters, as initial suspicions were directed at the game itself. The developers have removed the cause of the incident, but the situation highlights the risks of downloading community-made maps and mods, particularly when their origins have not been verified.
The project's official Discord channel was not entirely spared from the fallout either.

The team stresses that Meccha Chameleon did not contain malicious code. Before the issue was brought under control, however, one of the Discord server's moderators was affected by the infected content.
