Captain Carmi Ishmael wakes up to a knock on his door. A young man, Victor Franklin, demands a box from his cargo hold. Not knowing who this is, Ishmael sends him away, only to hear a gunshot from within his ship. Rushing to the cargo hold, Ishmael discovers that the man has stolen a box!
