You play as Mr. Sidorov, a mechanic working for the secretive Soviet research group known as O.D.I.S.EA. After the detonation of the Tsar Bomba, a new Fracture—designated Fracture 17—opened in the nearby Kara Sea. Now, you've been called upon to pilot an old prototype submarine in search of the missing research team that vanished into Fracture 17 and lost all contact.
