About Blightseed
A language deduction roguelike, where you fight waves and decipher the language of your enemies.
Deduce, what the alien fleet wants and learn to communicate with them to make peace!
This game has three core gameloops:
1. Defeat waves of enemy spaceships, update your attack "modules", collect relics, items and even more modules to create powerful synergies.
2. Everything is written in a foreign language. You have to try out new modules and interact with the enemies to learn the language. The more you learn, the better you can strategize.
3. Use what you learned and start investigating the enemies communication network.
These three gameloops go hand in hand to progress further and further in the game.
In typical roguelike fashion, you have to try over and over again, against randomized dangers and events to finally figure out how to beat the game.
The vast portion of gameplay is on the radar-like game area of you main HUD. You use your mouse to grab your ship and let it slingshot towards the enemies. You fight by ramming enemies or using your modules after you stopped your movement. Strategies can involve increasing your ramming power, focusing on melee attacks, shooting, throwing bombs or even use status effects to control enemy waves.
But another big portion is in the enemies communication network. There, you really have to understand what their language means to progress. Exploring the network will not only give you meta-progression for the roguelike part, but also give you logic puzzles, deduction-style investigating and heart to heart dialog with the enemy.
You play "Blightseed": a powerful AI, send out to stop an alien fleet before it reaches our solar system. Your mission: Hold them back and learn their intentions. The more you learn to speak their language, the more complex this conflict becomes.
