You are Fuad Al-Masry, an Authority geologist fourteen months into a long rotation under the Martian crust. You came here to log mineral surveys, not to stand over a body in a service corridor at eleven at night while your scanner returns a mineral signature that has no business existing on Mars at all.

Authority Security wants the file closed. The corporation that runs the deep boreholes wants you to forget what you read. How much weight will you carry for another person?
