In Hamlet, individual managers are distinct characters with their own background, traits, and potential. You aren't just placing structures; you are building a settlement around them.
Develop your managers: Some will blossom over time, while others will grow tiresome. Some managers will deserve investment and love, while others will deserve destitution. You have to make the tough choices.
Over 50 different managers to recruit, develop, and balance.
Managers are pivotal: When a manager falls ill or strikes gold, your entire settlement will feel the ripple effect.
Managers are not immortal: They will grow old and die, so plan for their succession. Train and balance your young talents to ensure the death of a master blacksmith doesn't cause your entire economic engine to collapse.
Hamlet is not a cosy city builder. It is designed for the min/max strategist. While the game features a relaxed "Easy Mode" for players who want a calmer, more meditative experience, the core simulation demands strict efficiency, tight optimization, and long term planning.

You will not manage real-time units on a battlefield, and you won't be micro-managing tactical combat. But the military is vital in Hamlet, both for turning a profit and ensuring the survival of your settlement and your nation! Your task is to bankroll, supply, and arm these forces. In Hamlet, the war is won in your workshops long before the marching drums ever beat.
Forget basic factory lines that infinitely churn out identical iron swords. In Hamlet, your economy is only as good as the experts running it. Your managers possess unique skill sets that directly manipulate the production matrix—governing not just how fast things are made, but the fundamental quality and value of the final product.
Master the Production Chain: Balance intricate, multi-tiered medieval production lines where raw materials are transformed into luxury goods.
Min/Max Expertise: Position the right specialist in the right workshop to turn modest workshops into hyper-efficient economic powerhouses.
Your layout and your workforce are inextricably linked. The physical design of your settlement—the proximity of housing to amenities, the distance from the market place, the quality of the roads, and the allocation of resources—directly shapes your success. To rival the wealth of the capital, you must master a dual layer of strategy: designing a flawless urban grid while maintaining the delicate social infrastructure of the people who power it.
(Note: The "attractive" loop is currently in active development and will be introduced in a future alpha patch!)
The world's greatest minds, crafters, and artists won't move to a muddy ditch. To secure elite talent, you must design a settlement that commands respect. The physical layout of your settlement—its beauty, amenities, security, and cultural prestige—functions as a literal beacon for wandering experts. To out-compete the capital, your building strategy must serve a dual purpose: building efficient production rings, and cultivating an attractive, high-status haven that the world's finest masters are desperate to call home.
