STATUS BRIEFING (LP-MAN-1993-S7)
On January 12, 1993, the quantum reactor inside Sector 7 went critical. The facility and its staff didn't explode—they experienced a spatial phase-shift, collapsing into a monospaced digital grid. Every wall, enemy, and breath of air now exists solely as ASCII coordinates.
Now, the boundary has ruptured. Entities from the Backrooms are bleeding into the grid. Project your consciousness into this glitched lattice, calibrate the terminals, and escape before your synaptic link collapses.
Multiplayer Sync (Steam P2P Co-op): Host private sessions or join public lobbies for up to 4 players. Coordinate hacking terminals and spotting anomalies. If the host disconnects, the background state engine keeps running to prevent softlocks.
Solo Protocol (Campaign & Upgrades): Retrieve data logs and escape terminal nodes. Spend XP between runs to upgrade battery cell, sanity dampeners, speed, radar, and psychic shields. Buy emergency supplies at Wall CRT terminals.
Infinitum Protocol (Endless Survival): Survive procedurally generated levels under active structural collapse. Floor stability decays constantly—if it hits 0%, entities turn hyper-aggressive. Watch out for Pitch Black Zones and Radar Jamming Fields.
Flashlight Battery: Toggle your light (F) to see, but remember: anomalies track your beam footprint. Turn it off to hide your signal.
Psychic Shield: Absorbs 90% of sanity damage. Recharges up to 50% near light sources. If it breaks, you take full sanity damage.
Decoy Charges: Drop decoys (Q) to lure hostiles away from your position.
Sanity & Uplink: Corrosive sludge and entities drain your sanity. Keep your uplink active by purging static at terminals before the timer runs out.
Anomaly-01 (Seeker): Freezes when you look at it. Turn away, and it charges at hyper-speed. Keep eye contact and back away.
Stalker Drone (S-DRN): Sentry immune to your gaze. Avoid its radar lines. Kill your light and break line-of-sight if spotted.
Entity-03 (Face-Sensitive): Harmless until you look directly at its face. Direct camera gaze triggers a screaming fit (static screen) followed by a lethal chase.
Entity-04 (Corrosive): Leaves trails of sludge. Touching it drags you into the Pocket Dimension—a shifting maze where your flashlight is disabled.
WebGL 2 ASCII Engine: Experience a 3D world rendered entirely in monospaced ASCII characters. Lighting, depth shading, and shadows are calculated in real time on the GPU, scaling dynamically to any resolution.
Procedural Volumetric Entities: Hostile anomalies, remote operators, and key devices are procedurally modeled as volumetric 3D meshes in code (built dynamically from geometric primitives and skeleton point chains) rather than using flat pre-drawn sprites.
Procedural Level Generation: Floor layouts, hazard zones, and item placements are procedurally generated via seed-based algorithms, ensuring no two escape runs are identical.
Procedural Sound & Synth: A custom audio engine synthesizes procedural calibration hums, adaptive heartbeats, and vintage synthesizer MIDI tracks.
Steam Achievements: Badges for clean runs, node calibration milestones, and stealth plays.
Steam Cloud Saves: Keep your persistent upgrades and floor states synced across all devices.
Steam Leaderboards: Compete globally with survival times and high scores.
Planned updates during early access:
New Sectors deeper within the digitized reactor core.
Reality-warping breach modifiers altering speed, visibility, and physics.
Additional entities from the Backrooms with unique behavior sets.
More achievements and trading cards.
