Cruzado blends fast-paced action with strategic decision-making. During the day, you must survive relentless hordes of enemies. Make it through the battle, and nightfall gives you a chance to recover your health, drink potions, improve your equipment, and prepare for the next day.
But every decision you make at night comes at a cost. You only have a limited number of actions before dawn forces you back onto the battlefield.
Move freely across the battlefield and dash out of danger to avoid enemy attacks. Aiming and shooting are completely manual, so survival depends on your reflexes, accuracy, and ability to reposition under pressure.
You cannot upgrade everything, buy everything, or prepare for every possible threat.
Your time at camp is limited. Sometimes, improving your weapon means leaving your armor untouched. Drinking a potion may prevent you from purchasing an upgrade. Visiting one merchant could mean missing an opportunity with another.
Choose carefully. Gold, gems, scrap, and action points are all limited.
Investing too heavily in immediate power may leave you unprepared later. Saving too much may mean you do not survive the next battle.
Your inventory is small—unless you invest in upgrading your backpack.
You will not always have enough room to carry every piece of equipment you find along the way. Some items only provide their benefits while equipped, and your number of equipment slots is limited.
You cannot use everything at once, so choose the items that truly support your build.
Every three turns, one of the game’s three merchants will appear at random:
• The Blacksmith upgrades your equipment and turns scrap into combat power.
• The Alchemist brews potions that can alter your stats, attacks, and chances of survival.
• The Merchant sells artifacts and offers opportunities that can completely reshape your build.
Deciding where to spend your gold, gems, scrap, and action points is a major part of the strategy. The most expensive upgrade is not always the best choice for the build you are creating.
There is more to life than war. After all, what kind of medieval tale would this be without a charming maiden to fall for?
Buy gifts and give them to the woman you wish to romance as you slowly win her heart.
Build a relationship with the Blacksmith, the Alchemist, or the Merchant to unlock new scenes and receive benefits tied to each character’s specialty. A stronger bond may grant discounts, bonuses, and new ways to prepare for battle.
Relationships require an investment, however. The resources spent on a gift could have been used on equipment, upgrades, or consumables. You must decide whether a future advantage is worth making a sacrifice in the present.
In Cruzado, romance is part of your progression and can directly change the way you prepare for war.
Of course, you can always choose to remain a lone wolf.
Every new run is an opportunity to try a different strategy.
Create a poison crossbow, cover the battlefield with waves of projectiles, build an nearly unbreakable defense, or put everything into raw damage.
Face melee fighters, archers, creatures, and other threats that constantly force you to change your position and adapt your tactics.
Death ends your current run, but the knowledge and experience you gain will help shape the next one.
Explore a world presented like an ancient medieval illustration, filled with stylized characters, brutal battlefields, and quiet nights beside the campfire.
Between days of bloodshed, the camp offers moments of rest, companionship, intimacy, and humor. The contrast between the violence of battle and the quieter life around the fire follows the Templar throughout his journey.
• Top-down action combat with independent movement and manual aiming.
• Large enemy hordes, including ranged attackers and other dangerous threats.
